Web art is digital art where it includes illustrations, animations, motion, interactions. It can be static or dynamic interactive experiences. It lives on the world wide web and is a creative expression by the author. It can take the form of the different mediums, from text to audio to pictorial visuals to even data and numbers. If we break the words “web art” into the 2 root words, “web” would mean the digital space that we know as the internet aka world wide web; while “art” is the more subjective and thus contentious word to define. With modern contemporary art that kind of allows a canvas being broken to be categorized as art, I would also infer that in this context it would be similar. If the author or rather artist, determines it to be “art” worthy it is then art.
For this class: Art will break when it’s separated from the internet; dynamic, not static; online games would be considered as web art
